I am James Young with Vital Direction, a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist specializing in hypnotic pain relief.
Pain Relief is
important to me.
When I first formally learned hypnosis 8 years ago, I had been diagnosed with osteoarthritis. I had been a runner most of my life and the doctors informed me that I had no cartilage in my knees any more. The pain was sometimes so intense that when I tried to walk up stairs, using my right leg, when it reached a critical angle my leg would collapse. I had to lead with my left leg and pull my right leg up behind me (or find an elevator).
I created some specific hypnosis recordings for myself and listened to them every day. I don't know when it happened exactly, but I was was shocked a week and a half later to realize that I was walking up stairs correctly and feeling nothing but comfort. My knee didn't hurt, nor did it collapse as I walked up stairs. I continued to feel no discomfort for the 2.5 to 3 months until my scheduled surgery.
Since then I have become a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and have specialized my training and experience in pain relief.
A meta-analysis (a study of studies) in 2000 of 18 published studies by psychologists Guy Montgomery, PhD, Katherine DuHamel, PhD, and William Redd, PhD
, showed that 75% of
clinical and experimental participants with different types of pain
obtained substantial relief from hypnosis. The researchers concluded
that hypnosis is equivalent or more effective than other
treatments for both acute and chronic pain, and they are likely to
save both money and time for patients and clinicians. They
further concluded from this meta-analysis that hypnosis might be
considered a standard of treatment for pain relief.
Consider the side
When treating pain, side effects are always a concern. Pharmaceutical solutions can provide much needed relief, but may also come with serious side effects. The side effects of hypnosis are all positive. Not only can one get substantial relief from pain, but by learning self-hypnosis, a client can administer comfort and relief when and how often they want, without any negative effects. With hypnosis or self-hypnosis, a client may be able to improve their sleeping, and learn the ability to relax when and where they want.
